Christian McCaffrey hints why he and Olivia Culpo didn’t invite ‘bitter’ Cam Newton to their wedding

Christian McCaffrey has responded to Cam Newton after his former Carolina Panthers teammate admitted he was “bitter” over not being invited to his wedding.

McCaffrey, who reached Super Bowl LVIII with the San Francisco 49ers last season, married Olivia Culpo last month in a lavish ceremony in his partner’s home state of Rhode Island.

A number of familiar faces from the NFL world were invited to the wedding, including 49ers star teammates Kyle Juszczyk and George Kittle and commentator Greg Olsen.

However, Newton did not receive an invitation, much to the surprise of the former Panthers quarterback.

During the latest episode of his podcast ‘4th & 1,’ Newton expressed his surprise at the rejection from McCaffrey, with whom he shared a locker room for three seasons at Carolina.

Referring to an old disagreement he had with 49ers quarterback Brock Purdy, the 35-year-old said, “Look, damn it, C Mac, I couldn’t get an invite? Is it because of the Brock Purdy beef? Was Brock there?”

After hearing what Newton had to say, McCaffrey responded to a clip of his remarks on social media, saying he wasn’t invited because they hadn’t spoken in four years.

He recalls a conversation with Olsen in which he admitted that the day would have been a lot more special if Newton had been there.

McCaffrey wrote: ‘Me: *Talks to Greg at the bar: “This was a great night, but you know what would have made it even better?”

Greg: “What?” Me: “If Cam was here. I haven’t gotten a text back in 4 years. In fact, they just turn green now.”

Greg: *Takes a sip of whiskey “He would have loved it… 4 years? Even on Instagram.

‘Me: “Just once there, but that doesn’t count” (insert laugh track). *He orders another round as they both sit in silence for 30 seconds.

Christian: “Why doesn’t he love me, man?”

Newton then responded to McCaffrey’s comment by joking, “What [phone] do you have number?! (share here) – love.’

The former NFL MVP also joked that he would have crashed his former teammate’s wedding if he had received an invite.

‘F**k that, man! You’re lucky I wasn’t there C Mac, ’cause I would’ve destroyed that motherfucker.

‘I would have blown it man, oh my God, it looked like they were having so much fun. I don’t know if I could have gone.

“I wanted to at least say, ‘Brother, I can’t.’ I wanted to at least give you a present or something.”
