Christian Horner will make his first public appearance at the Red Bull car launch today after being accused of ‘inappropriate behaviour’ by a female staff member.

The 50-year-old husband of former Spice Girl Geri Halliwell will stick to the schedule set weeks ago and attend the event at their factory in Milton Keynes. ‘Business as usual’ is the mantra there.

Horner categorically denies the claims. He will face questions from the media about his future as boss of the world championship-winning team, but limits are likely to be placed on what he will say for legal reasons.

Horner will not be drawn into the details of the issue, but will confront what the controversy may mean for Red Bull’s focus on defending the world championship.

He met with the external investigator, a king’s counselor, last Friday to lay out his refutation of the allegations during an all-day hearing.

Red Bull had wanted the issue resolved before the unveiling of Max Verstappen’s new car today, an event that will also be attended by three-time world champion and teammate Sergio Perez.

But the legal back-and-forth does not appear to have picked up that pace and will continue towards or beyond pre-season testing in Bahrain next week or the first race at the same venue in the Gulf on March 2.

Horner’s allies claim he is part of a power struggle within the organization. Geri stands firmly behind her husband.

There is no known timetable for solving the problem.
