Christian Eriksen has cast his future at Manchester United in doubt as he admits he has no control over whether he stays at Old Trafford beyond this season.
Speaking to his manager here in Istanbul ahead of Thursday night’s Europa League match against Fenerbahce, the Dane awkwardly answered the question of whether his contract, which expires at the end of this current season, could be extended.
“It’s not really up to me when my contract ends, it’s up to the club,” he said.
‘I like it here. When the summer comes, when the offer is there, I will definitely take it seriously.’
Eriksen recently revealed while on international duty that contract talks are not currently underway, but club sources have told Mail Sport that they are relaxed about the situation at this stage of the season.

The 32-year-old has enjoyed a renaissance this season and is one of only three fit midfielders to have traveled to Turkey for this third part of the Europa League campaign.
Eriksen scored in the 1-1 draw against FC Twente before producing two assists in the 3-3 thriller away to FC Porto.
Asked about his increase in playing time in recent weeks following an upturn in form, the Dane was reluctant to get carried away.
“Some games you play and some you don’t,” he added.
‘I’ve been in and out a lot over the last two seasons, but I absolutely love playing for Manchester United. The manager decides who plays and you do your best if you can.’
With Bruno Fernandes suspended for this game – one of ten absent from the first team – Ten Hag will have to lean on players like Eriksen for key attacking contributions, especially in a feverish atmosphere that always awaits English teams in Turkey.
“I think we have enough players in the team,” said the United boss.
‘We are so experienced that we have often had to deal with such situations. We look forward to it and [will try to] Create an atmosphere that fuels the team. [It is] a challenge, it’s motivation, it’s good for us.’
