A backyard breeder accused of treating his dogs as “money makers” has been brutally beaten by his own animals.
Rikiana Hirawani, 33, was found dead in the backyard of his home in Christchurch, New Zealand, surrounded by three large, white dogs.
Armed police rushed to the home on Gilberthorpes Road, in the Christchurch suburb of Hei Hei, at 12.30am on Tuesday, ready to capture the dogs.
Neighbors reported seeing one of the dogs still mauling his lifeless, naked body and described the scene as “grim.”
A neighbor said he yelled at the dogs to try and dissuade them from the body until police arrived.

It is not known how or when Hirawani died, but police claimed early on in the investigation that there were no suspicious circumstances
“You could see every rib,” the witness said Stuff.
The neighbor also claimed that the dogs were not properly cared for and were bred as ‘money makers’.
Mr. Hirawani’s body was still being attacked occasionally when the police arrived.
One of the dogs was taken from the front of the property while police broke through the back fence to capture the other two animals.
Detective Senior Sergeant Colin Baillie confirmed there were no suspicious circumstances surrounding his death.
Police forensic experts are still examining the crime scene and the death has been referred to the coroner.
One dog was apprehended on the street and the police removed the other two.
A neighbor also claimed that armed police were regularly called to the same house.
