Chrissy Teigen tearfully reveals why she’s sharing her abortion story with Kamala Harris
Vice President Kamala Harris had a conversation with model Chrissy Teigen about abortion rights at the White House on Thursday in an event that quickly brought tears.
Teigen praised the vice president and the Biden campaign for making abortion rights a key part of their reelection campaign and not shying away from sharing stories about women struggling with new restrictions on abortions after the Supreme Court overturned Roe V. Wade.
“Sharing all these stories and humanizing this taboo topic is really important,” Teigen said.
Teigen tearfully shared her experience with an abortion at the Feminist Women’s Health Center in Atlanta, Georgia.
‘It doesn’t have to be this place of darkness that is scary and the level of comfort that I felt when I was in your clinic was so incredible and so beautiful and something that I actually wished for myself, I thought it was such a beautiful place, that it was just so, so special,” she said.

In 2020, Teigen shared the news that she suffered a miscarriage at 20 weeks, losing her son Jack.
But in 2022, following the Supreme Court’s Dobbs v. Jackson decision, she revealed that it was actually an abortion that she said saved her life.
“Let’s just call it what it was: it was an abortion. An abortion to save my life for a baby that had absolutely no chance. And honestly, I never put that together until a few months ago,” she said.
Teigen’s husband John Legend attended the event on the video set from the White House executive office. Attendance was limited to select media outlets and was not broadcast live from the White House.

The conversation coincided with the two-year anniversary of the Supreme Court’s decision to overturn Roe v. Wade in June 2021.
Teigen became more outspoken about abortion after the ruling, sharing details about the pregnancy she wanted to end with an abortion.
Teigen and Legend publicly supported Harris during the 2020 campaign.
After Teigen appeared at a campaign rally with Harris, she became famous claimed she was ‘not showering my Kamala plushie.’
Both Legend and Teigen were filmed celebrating the news of Biden’s victory, cheering and shouting “f**k Donald Trump” as they hung out of their Land Rover SUV on November 7.
