Chrissie Swan’s ‘worst interview ever’ with Sam Newman is finally revealed after the unaired audio was brought to light – as the Nova radio host and AFL star start a brutal war of words over it

Chrissie Swan started a brutal war of words with Sam Newman on Tuesday when she revealed his was the worst celebrity interview she’s ever had.

Now reporter Peter Ford has claimed he knows the truth behind the offensive interview that forced the Nova FM radio presenter, 49, to walk out of the studio.

The radio station didn’t air the tape, prompting The Masked Singer panelist to storm out in tears, but Peter spilled all the details Ross & Russ from 3AW on Thursday.

“It was all about being a grid girl and how they left the Grand Prix grid girls behind,” he claimed to Ross Stevenson and Russel Howcroft.

‘She was in favor of that, Sam wasn’t, and Sam had suggested that being a grid girl probably wouldn’t be a career option for her. That’s what upset her.”

The former AFL player, 77, made the comment while Chrissie was still co-hosting Nova FM Melbourne’s Chrissie, Sam and Browny show, which ran from 2016 to 2022.

Daily Mail Australia has contacted both Chrissie and Sam for comment.

“What cowardice to ask someone to come in and then walk out of the studio with an opinion on a subject we were talking about,” he told News Corp on Tuesday.

‘I just gave my opinion and she walked out, how unprofessional. What a coward.’

The ex-Footy Show presenter disputed Chrissie’s version of events, saying: ‘I have no doubt (Nova FM) didn’t put it on air because they didn’t want to embarrass her.’

The radio station refused to air the tape for fear it would “embarrass” The Masked Singer panelist, but Peter spilled the full details on 3AW’s Ross & Russ on Thursday.

“It was all about being a grid girl and how they left the Grand Prix grid girls behind,” he told presenters Ross Stevenson and Russel Howcroft.

‘I never abused her. She was out to get me,” he said, before adding that Chrissie had a “ridiculous position” on the “current affairs” being discussed.

Chrissie spoke about her meeting with Sam during her podcast on Monday, saying it was “hands down the worst experience” she’s ever had working in media.

Co-host Jack Charles, then a producer on her radio show, said, “I remember you walking out of the studio… We couldn’t even air the audio.”

‘It was definitely the worst yet. It was a terrible, terrible situation and so unusual in my career that I felt so attacked. It was horrible,” Chrissie replied.

Sam hit out at Chrissie’s performance at the time, brazenly claiming she wanted the grid girls to be axed because she wasn’t attractive enough to be one.
