Speaking on BBC Radio 5 Live, Sutton said: ‘Did Chelsea play well? I thought they did it in the first half, but in the second half they were outplayed.
‘Is this the Chelsea fans want to see where they are applauding you for your effort? Chelsea, in the last 20 years, has been a team that has won great trophies and looks very far away.

‘The question is how much can Todd Boehly take? Chelsea go to City at the weekend in the FA Cup; if they do go out, I wonder if they’ll see this as too big a job for Graham Potter to handle.
“It was a difficult pre-season for Chelsea – there were noises that Thomas Tuchel wasn’t happy. He ended up leaving, and it’s been difficult for Potter to come, but this is a Chelsea team that just isn’t doing well enough.”
Sutton went on to talk about the money Boehly had invested in the team, saying it’s hard to see “where” the team is headed despite its star-studded team.

Sutton said: “They’ve spent a fortune and you feel for Potter in terms of key players who will be out tonight – Mount, Chilwell, James, Sterling have to go out early on.”
“But it’s not good enough, I don’t think anyone expected Chelsea to win this game tonight, it’s not the team it once was, and how much time will Todd Boehly give Potter? It’s so hard to see where this is going.
Sutton was also very critical of Pierre-Emerick Aubameyang’s performance against Pep Guardiola’s team.
Sutton also questioned how much Chelsea owner Todd Boehly (above) would tolerate.
Aubameyang started Chelsea’s draw against City on the bench, but came onto the pitch after five minutes when Raheem Sterling had to go off with an injury.
However, Graham Potter was not impressed with the 33-year-old’s performance and decided to replace him with Omari Hutchinson in the second half.
Speaking about the striker’s contribution, Sutton said: “I thought Aubameyang was hopeless really, he offered very little. Aubameyang’s substitution is really revealing, it’s shameful. He’s been taken away and rightly so.
