Chris Pratt pays tribute to late Everwood costars John Beasley and Treat Williams

Chris Pratt took to Instagram on Tuesday to remember two of his Everwood costars who recently passed away, John Beasley and Treat Williams.

“It’s been an incredibly sad season for the Everwood cast and crew,” the 43-year-old Minnesota resident said in a caption alongside photos of the two actors. “We are still reeling from the loss of John Beasley and yesterday we also lost Treat Williams.”

Pratt played the role of Bright Abbott in all 89 episodes of the WB series from 2002-2006, with Williams leading the cast as Dr. Andrew ‘Andy’ Brown and Beasley played the role of Irv Harper.

Beasley died on May 30 at age 79 at a hospital in Omaha, Nebraska, where he had his liver tested; while Williams died Monday at age 71 following a motorcycle accident in Vermont.

Pratt said that “both men were exceptional actors, wonderful husbands, fathers and friends” and “they will be greatly missed,” adding that he “learned a lot working with each of them.”

The Guardians Of The Galaxy protagonist said that both the Beasley and Williams families will be in his family’s prayers.

“May we see you again, gentlemen,” Pratt said. ‘God bless you. Hug your loved ones. Get in touch with that person you’re thinking about. Life is fragile, precious and finite. Embrace it and each other.’

He concluded his poignant post by pointing out some of his favorite movies starring both actors.

If you’re looking for movies to watch this week, check out Treat in Prince in the City, Hair or Ten Things To Do in Denver When You’re Dead, and John in The Apostle, Walking Tall , and Rudy,’ he said.

Pratt was one of a number of Everwood alums to pay tribute to Williams after his shocking passing on Tuesday.

The show’s creator, 51-year-old Greg Berlanti, shared a photo of his sister sitting next to Williams and wrote a direct tribute to the late actor.

“I remember our first lunch like it was yesterday,” Berlanti said. “Me and my fellow producer met with you about playing Doctor Andy Brown. I was only 29 and had never worked with a star of your stature let alone had lunch over what I had written.

“I was shaking (it was only months after September 11 and the whole world was still shaking). The studio’s brief was to somehow feel and see if “you were Andy.”

Berlanti said Williams hugged him after an hour-long lunch, reassuring him that everything would be fine.

Berlanti said he told network executives that “if we could capture half of Treat’s warmth, wit, wisdom and heart, we’d have a TV show.”

He continued, “I still feel the warmth of your presence back then. People could feel it through the screen when they watched Everwood. That was the secret magic of the show, every week you gave the world a much needed hug.”

Berlanti said Williams’ kindness changed the course of his life and his heart.

“Your loss of this world, especially just weeks after the loss of the beloved John Beasley, is heartbreaking and unimaginable to me,” he said. “My love and prayers for you and your beautiful family who you loved so much and always reminded me that nothing was worth without something.”

Actor Gregory Smith, who played Ephram Brown on the series, said he was devastated by the news of Williams’ passing.

“Treat was a wonderful man and a brilliant actor,” Smith said deadline in a statement. Most of all, he loved his family so much. I am very grateful for the time I got to spend as part of his extended TV family.”

Smith continued, “He made an indelible impression on me during my most formative years. I will always cherish my time with Treat and fondly remember his stories, his laughter and his passion for adventure. Sending love to his family, Pam, Gil and Elinor. He will be sorely missed.’
