“I want to sit and be in this space with a greater sense of stillness and gratitude. And then you start talking about kids and family…”

Chris explained, “It really triggered something in me to want to take some time off. And since we finished the show, I’ve finished the things I was already contracted to do.”

He said he has decided to take “a good chunk of time off” with his wife Elsa Pataky and their three children – India, 10, and twin boys Sasha and Tristan, 8.

It comes after Chris discovered that he is genetically predisposed to Alzheimer’s disease, forcing him to face his “own mortality” while filming the show.

After having blood tests done for the program, he was told he is “eight to 10 times” more likely to develop Alzheimer’s disease than the general population because he is one of only two to three percent of people is with two copies of the APOE4 gene.

Limitless plays on Chris’ fame through superhero movies and follows him as he pushes the limits of what his body can do.

He will be featured on the Disney+ program with a variety of physical goals, such as what Variety said was 40 pounds of weight gain for a Thor movie.

“It really triggered something in me to want to get away from it all. And since we ended the show, I've finished the things I was already contracted to do,” he said

The blood work he received in support of the show resulted in the bombshell news that he is several times more likely than the general population to develop Alzheimer’s disease, a degenerative brain condition characterized in part by memory loss.

However, according to the CDC, there are apparently a number of steps people in his position can take to reduce their level of risk, such as making sure they get a good night’s sleep, limiting their alcohol consumption, and quitting smoking.

As a result, Chris responded to the news of his own predisposition to Alzheimer’s disease by adopting a healthier lifestyle.
