Chris Eubank Jr. has claimed that he “can’t think of a bigger money fight than a fight between himself and Canelo Alvarez.”
The British fighter is currently weighing up who his next opponent should be after getting revenge on Liam Smith earlier this month.
After a defeat in their first meeting in January, ‘Next Gen’ stopped Smith in the 10th round, dropping him to the canvas twice during the grudge match.
The 33-year-old then called up several fighters, including Conor Benn, Kell Brook and Gennady Golovkin, who was notably defeated by Alvarez twice during his career.
But it appears he would also welcome a fight against the Mexican boxer, who he dubbed the ‘Brit Slayer’, given his record of beating fighters from the UK including Rocky Fielding, Billy Joe Saunders and most recently John Ryder.

His record currently stands at 59-2-2, having only lost to Dimitrii Bivol and Floyd Mayweather Jr. in his career.
Speak with Air sportsEubank Jr said: ‘Canelo goes where the money is. “I can’t think of any bigger money fights than me against Canelo. I know he wants to fight in Britain, it’s a huge market.
“There aren’t many other guys that people would rather see fight than me and Alvarez. He’s one of those guys, he really makes the rules.
‘He does what he wants. He goes up in weight, he goes down in weight, he holds belts in different weight classes, and he does all these things that other fighters could never do. So it’s difficult to target him.”
The super middleweight fighter has a record of 59-2-2 and has only been defeated by Dimitrii Bivol and Floyd Mayweather Jr.
Eubank’s record, meanwhile, stands at 33-3-0, having lost to Smith, George Groves and Saunders during his career.
And while the Brighton-born fighter admitted that a fight between him and Alvarez would be huge, he claimed he wouldn’t pursue the Mexican fighter to retain him for a fight, stating that his potential opponent is operating on his own merits.
‘You can’t target Canelo Alvarez. When he wants to come and fight, he will fight,” he said.
“He’ll look at the options: ‘Okay, that’s going to be a good money fight, I think I can beat him.’ And he just does what he wants.
“So I don’t focus on him so much. When it comes, it comes, great. You can’t chase him. He does what he wants.’
Alvarez will put his IBF, WBA, WBC and WBO super middleweight titles on the line on September 30 as he prepares to face Jermell Charlo in Las Vegas. It is his first fight since beating London-born boxer Ryder in May.

Eubank, meanwhile, stated that if a fight were to happen between the pair, he would take it ‘to’ Alvarez.
“Sure, they call him the British murderer,” Eubank added.
‘People know I won’t go down without a fight. I’m not going to go in there and freeze. I’ll go in and take it to him.
“That’s what people want to see and that’s the battle he has to fight. Whether he accepts such a fight remains to be seen.
“But yes, tell the fans, let the fans make their voices heard. Get the polls out and demand he fights guys who know how to get it to him, like me.”
