Chris Eubank breaks down in tears over the tragic death of his son Sebastian on Scared Of The Dark

Chris Eubank will burst into tears on Monday’s episode of Scared Of The Dark as he discusses the loss of his son at the age of 29.

Sebastian, the third oldest of Chris’ five children, tragically passed away from an undiagnosed heart condition while swimming, just a week before his 30th birthday in 2021.

Comedian Chris McCausland asks 56-year-old Chris if he recently lost his son.

The boxer replies, “It will always be recent.”

He says of his son: ‘He was everything. He was me. Poet, philosopher, lover, protector, a man of love. He was me.

“Things he did, he was magnificent. My son was, is and always will be a source of inspiration.’

In The Vault, Chris adds, “Your son… they never let you down,” he said. ‘They are always with you. Always.

“My son Sebastian is much more than I could ever explain to you.

“The tragedy of losing a son who is 29, imagine crying so hard and being thankful months later that you cried so hard for your son. It wasn’t one tear, it was an ocean.’

Chris said at the time, “Never did I ever imagine I would write these words or experience the feeling I have now at the loss of my son.

“My family and I are devastated to learn that Sebastian passed away just days before his 30th birthday.

Sebastian grew up in Hove, England, but in recent years has made his living in Dubai, where he had a wide circle of friends and was a leader in the adoption of healthy lifestyles and alternative therapies.

Sebastian was not only a personal trainer and boxer, but also a deep thinker who liked to challenge the prevailing wisdom.

“He was loved and respected by all who knew him and will forever be in the thoughts of friends and family.”

Sebastian was also a boxer and lived with his wife Salma Abdelati, 42, and son Raheem, who was born 32 days before his father’s death, in the United Arab Emirates.

Salma said she hoped their child Raheem, now two, will become a heart surgeon in memory of his father who was named the Alka Lion and fought in two professional fights and won both.

Father Chris told Good Morning Britain after the tragedy: ‘I can’t tell you how proud I am of this man. He was my son and I loved him.

“Every moment we spent together was my favorite, but there were so many moments I missed when we weren’t together.”

Salma wants her son to be a surgeon and says, ‘If he takes up athletics as a side job, I wouldn’t mind. For me he must have a profession that helps people.’

The 41-year-old who lost her father shortly after her husband added: ‘Seb was so proud of his father and felt very close to him. It was a deep and spiritual relationship. I see many similarities in that.’

The Sudanese native who grew up in Britain said she heard the boxing legend tell her son, “You’re amazing” and “It’s really great fun,” which was reassuring.

She thinks “pure” Sebastian “would like me to be happy and move on.”

Scared of the Dark will air over five nights from Sunday 16 – Thursday 20 April at 9pm on Channel 4.
