Chris Dawson trial: Convicted wife killer failed student who referenced sexual activities in exam

Grim Sexual Reason Why Convicted Wife Killer Teacher Failed One Of His Students On An Exam: ‘I Hoped He Would Like It’

  • Chris Dawson is on trial in NSW District Court
  • Student he was grooming allegedly referenced sexual activity during the exam
  • She told the court she thought he would find it “funny.”
  • Left confused when he got a zero from Dawson

Former teacher Chris Dawson gave a teen a zero on a written exam because she left out a reference to their sexual activity, a court has said.

Convicted wife killer Dawson, 74, is on trial in NSW District Court and charged with sexual activity with a then 16-year-old student at a high school where he taught.

During her testimony, the woman – known only as AB – says she was groomed before she first engaged in sexual activity with Dawson in his parents’ bed in the second half of 1980.

On her second day on the witness stand, AB got emotional at one point and was given several minutes to calm down before continuing with her testimony.

Dawson has pleaded not guilty to one count of carnal knowledge, with his lawyers claiming that his first sexual activity with the girl did not occur until after her 17th birthday in February 1981.

However, AB has claimed during her evidence that their first sexual activity occurred around August or September 1980, when she was 16 years old and in his eleventh sports class.

She told the court on Wednesday that she included a reference to their sexual activities on a written exam.

AB said she couldn’t remember the exact words, but remembered they were for “him alone.”

She told the court that by then she had been having sexual activity with Dawson for “quite a long time.”

AB told the court that a friend told her she would find it “funny” if she wrote something “exotic” about their sexual activities.

But she says she was confused when he ripped off the part of the exam where she referred to their sexual activity and gave her a zero.

“I gave it to him in the hope that he would like it,” AB said in her testimony on Wednesday.

He ripped off the portion of that exam and gave me a zero.

“I was a bit confused by that. As a 16 year old you don’t understand why this is happening, but he just gave me zero.’

AB told the court that she engaged in sexual activity with Dawson in the backseat of his car, in his school office, and in a swimming pool while his twin brother sat on the other side.

Dawson, a former Newtown Jets player, was sentenced to 24 years in prison last year for the murder of his wife Lynette Simms.

He maintains his innocence and has filed an appeal.

The trial for Judge Sarah Hughett continues.
