Chris Cuomo extended an olive branch to Ted Cruz last night, sending his best wishes to the family as Cruz’s daughter recovers from self-inflicted injuries, while also claiming his own family was harassed when CNN fired him.
Cuomo, who now works at NewsNation, said he no longer leans toward Republicans like Cruz or any of his old enemies the way he did at CNN because he now knows how they feel.
‘I don’t hit Cruz or any of the players like I used to, there is also a personal reason.

‘I had a challenging year, but in some ways it was harder for my family.
“They paid a price for no good reason, actually for bad reasons: paparazzi and keyboard warriors.
“They were put in a bad position and made to answer for things they had nothing to do with because of my decision to help my brother,” he said.
He was referring to CNN firing him after it was revealed he had been advising his brother, former New York Gov. Andrew Cuomo, through a sexual harassment scandal that cost him his job.
Cuomo, who was CNN’s primetime anchor, left for the Hamptons afterward.
Upon his departure from CNN, he found himself embroiled in a bitter battle over money with the bosses, including former Chairman Jeff Zucker.

‘And as someone who grew up being bullied and all that good stuff because of who my dad was, you’d think you’d know better.
“But I’ve also done it with mine, and I hate it, so I don’t do the job the same way because I want to try to limit the anger that comes from a bad reason,” he said.

‘I hope the Cruz family gets through whatever is going on, that’s not what the moment is for instructing.
‘Of course, your child’s name and situation should be kept out of anyone’s mouth and head.
But keep it in your heart because there are too many saying the right thing now that it works to do it.
‘But then the same people, too many of them for sure, play the game ugly: they distort the truth for profit or clicks and choose to be negative for an advantage.
‘Yes, Ted Cruz calls for attacks with the way he plays. And yes, too often that’s not how he’d like people to be about his family right now. But that’s for him to take care of. I’m saying that all those who express sympathy for the Cruz family should think about how unsympathetic they often are.

He has not released a personal statement, but his representatives confirmed that she is “fine” and expects a full recovery.
