Chris Cuomo blasts mainstream media for ignoring Doug Emhoff assault claims: ‘If it were Trump it would be on every TV show’

Chris Cuomo has blasted the mainstream media for not following up on DailyMail.com’s exclusive about Doug Emhoff assaulting an ex-girlfriend.

Emhoff, the Second Gentleman of the United States, was accused of “slapping” his then-partner in the face during a 2012 event.

But America’s most powerful liberal media outlets, including The New York Times, the Washington Post and CNN, have all failed to act on it.

That has led to accusations of hypocrisy from critics, including Cuomo, who believes the same media would quickly seize on a similar story about a Trump family member.

Cuomo said he believes if the allegations had been made against Donald Trump or his family, it would be big news

On his NewsNation show, the former CNN host said, “If the name was Trump, instead of Emhoff, it would be all over the news.

“If it was Trump or anyone related to him, it would be on every TV show out there right now.”

The DailyMail.com exclusive was followed by other major outlets, including the New York Post and Newsweek.

But the refusal of the country’s most influential media to do anything about it has fueled new speculation that they will soon provide Emhoff with cover to help Kamala Harris win next month’s presidential election.

The alleged incident involving Emhoff and the woman happened a decade ago while waiting in a parking lot after an event at the Cannes Film Festival in France.

One of the woman’s friends told DailyMail.com that Emhoff’s ex called him immediately after the incident, sobbing in her taxi, and described the alleged assault.

DailyMail.com is not naming the woman, who is a successful lawyer in New York, but will refer to her as “Jane.”

A second friend said Jane, who had been dating Emhoff for three months, also told her about the alleged violence at the time.

Another said Jane told her in 2014 that she had dated Emhoff and later told the story of his alleged abuse in 2018.

The friends, who all asked not to be named for fear of retribution from Emhoff, shared with DailyMail.com photos of him and Jane together from 2012, and other documents and communications that corroborated elements of the story.

One of Jane’s friends, a top businessman from New York, said he was at home getting ready for bed that night when he received an unexpected phone call from her.

“It was hard to hear her because she was sobbing,” he said. ‘She told me she was with a man and he hit her.

‘It was very clear what she told me. She said she was with a man, her date, she was at the Cannes Film Festival, and he hit her. She was in the car with the man at the time.

‘I didn’t know what to do, I didn’t know whether to call the French police. I couldn’t reach her after I called back.’

He said he still had a “vivid” memory of the disturbing conversation 12 years ago.

The new claims came after DailyMail.com revealed that Emhoff had cheated on his first wife and mother of his two children around 2008.

Emhoff allegedly impregnated his daughter’s nanny, who also worked as an elementary school teacher.

He later admitted to the affair with the babysitter and teacher, Najen Naylor, after DailyMail.com published the story last month.

All three of Jane’s friends said she also told them about a disturbing alleged incident during her relationship with the Second Gentleman, in which Emhoff casually admitted to getting Naylor pregnant.

Emhoff told Jane that the nanny accused him of causing her to miscarry, the friends alleged.

Emhoff was previously called a “lady’s man” and a “mensch” by Democrats, a Yiddish term for an honorable, kind man.

He has also spoken out in media interviews about being an ally of women and against toxic masculinity.
