Chris Brown’s new renovation series Dream Home receives mixed reviews: ‘It’s just House Rules with a better looking host’
The new series of Dr. Chris Brown made his debut on Sunday night.
Dream Home, a reality renovation programme, sees the popular vet return to TV amid his $2 million contract with Channel Seven.
Although Chris’s natural charm was on full display in the show’s first episode, many viewers couldn’t help but find the premise very familiar.
Several people watching at home noted that Dream House bears more than a passing resemblance to a similar show, House Rules, which aired on Channel Seven for eight seasons starting in 2013.
“Dream Home is basically an improved version of the House Rules… with a better looking host,” someone wrote on X.

Another agreed: ‘Dream Home = new house rules’, while someone else interjected: ‘My thoughts exactly. Is there any difference?’
Others pointed out that there was “no drama” in the new show.
‘What! Divide the rooms without drama? How long will that take? Fingers crossed,” said another new fan.
Some were less than impressed with the renovations, with one posting: ‘Why would those girls think a teenage BOY would want an ornate ceiling!?’
It comes amid news that Seven has already renewed Dream Home for a second season.

Based on a successful New Zealand format, the reality show will see six couples attempt to renovate each other’s homes room by room.
Renovator Lana Taylor, buyer’s agent Simon Cohen and interior designer Rosie Morley join Chris as judges for the debut series.
The show’s producers announced that the contestants will compete for a cash prize of $100,000.
There is work to be done for the participants.
The houses consist of dilapidated brick suburbs and crowded, old brick homes with outdated features and small backyards.
The renovation series marks Brown’s return to prime time following his shock departure from I’m a Celebrity…Get Me Out of Here! last year.
Brown made the move after signing a two-year contract with Seven worth more than $1 million per year.
