Chocolate treat recalled in 39 states over fears it could cause ‘life-threatening’ allergic reactions

A brand of ice cream cones has been recalled due to undeclared allergens, health officials announced.

The FDA said Friday that Colorado-based Hammond’s Candies has voluntarily recalled its dark chocolate-filled mini waffle cones for containing undeclared milk.

The agency said: ‘People with an allergy or severe sensitivity to milk are at risk of a serious or life-threatening allergic reaction if they consume these products.’

The four-ounce bags were distributed in stores in 39 states and had expiration dates of March 20, 2025 and May 20, 2025.

One person has had an allergic reaction to the product. It is unclear whether they have been hospitalized. No deaths have been reported.

The recall was initiated after the sick consumer alerted the brand.

The products were then tested and “found to contain more than trace amounts of milk proteins, which is not indicated on the packaging,” the FDA said.

“The company’s investigation is ongoing.”

The products were sold on the Hammond’s Candies website and Amazon, as well as in unspecified stores.

The FDA urged consumers who purchased the cones to return them to the place of purchase for a full refund.
