Chocolate chips… your teeth? Trader Joe’s remembers two types of cookies because they can contain bits of ROCK
Two types of Trader Joe’s cookies have been recalled across the country over fears they contain rocks.
The supermarket chain announced Friday the recall of its Almond Windmill Cookies and Dark Chocolate Chunk and Almond Cookies, saying they may contain foreign material, rocks.
The recall affects Almond Windmill Cookies with an expiration date of October 19, 2023 to October 21, 2023, and Dark Chocolate Chunk and Almond Cookies with an expiration date of October 17, 2023 to October 21, 2023.
The cookies have been recalled because they may contain foreign material and stones and have been removed from shelves or destroyed
It’s unclear how stones got into the cookies, what kind of stones they were, or how much product they actually contain.
Chewing on stones can have harmful effects on your health.
First, hard, non-food items like those can chip teeth or cause them to fall out completely.
Stones are also not meant to be digested, so swallowing them could lead to an intestinal blockage or rupture. Left untreated, an intestinal blockage can result in tissue death, as it cuts off blood supply to the intestine or infection, according to the Mayo Clinic.
All affected products were removed from shelves and destroyed.
“If you have purchased or donated Almond Windmill Cookies and/or Dark Chocolate Chunk and Almond Cookies, please do not eat them,” the company said.
The products can be returned to any Trader Joe location for a full refund.
