Queensland detectives swoop on brothers suspected of killing Chloe Jade Mason, shot dead in Caboolture street
Police have arrested two men over the alleged murder of 23-year-old Chloe Jade Mason, who was shot dead on a Brisbane street three days before Christmas.
Queensland homicide detectives, with the help of specialist units, arrested brothers Codye Thomson, 29, and Kaine Thomson-Gleeson, 32.
The men were arrested without incident in a park near Civic Parade, Logan, at around 2pm on Monday.
This was after detectives believed the two alleged suspects may have fled across the border and hidden in NSW.
Police say media and the public helped locate the men.
Chloe Jade Mason, better known as CeeJay, was allegedly chased and shot by two men outside a house in Caboolture in Brisbane’s north just after midnight on December 22.
Queensland detectives had previously released images of the two men they believed could help solve the alleged targeted attack on Railway Parade.

The men had previously been last seen in Chinderah, northern NSW, on December 30 and had been visiting relatives in Kempsey, NSW.
Police believed they were traveling in a white Holden Commodore car with Queensland registration 953 HO4.
First responders found Ms. Mason unconscious at the scene and she could not be resuscitated.
Detectives believe Ms. Mason was shot while “being attacked by two male subjects.”
Queensland Police also released CCTV footage from the scene at the time of the shooting, including audio in a public appeal for more information.

Detective Inspector David Harbison said she was shot by two men, and investigators were treating her death as a homicide.
“Initial investigations indicate that the deceased was assaulted by two male individuals who may have chased her through Railway Parade,” Det Insp Harbison previously said.
“Police are investigating reports of up to three to four shots fired in that street.”
Det Insp Harbison said police did not believe the incident was a random attack where the parties involved knew each other.
Anyone who traveled along Railway Parade between 11.40pm on December 21 and 12.15am on December 22 is urged to contact police.
Daily Mail Australia previously revealed Ms Mason was involved in a stabbing that almost claimed her life, years before she was shot.
‘I’m in the [hospital] department now,” she shared on social media in 2016.
‘There are still nurses around me 24/7 checking on me [and] making sure everything is correct and nothing is out of place.
‘I have two drains in my heart to drain all the blood that leaks from the valve that was cut when the knife went 3 cm deep into my heart.
“I’m fighting through this with the love and support of my family and friends.”
The shocking revelation comes after it was revealed that her former boyfriend Kane Alexanderson, 18, was himself stabbed to death during a knife fight in 2020.

Mrs Mason’s devastated sisters shared their tributes on social media and launched a fundraising campaign to pay for her funeral hours after her death on December 22.
Hours after her death, Mrs Mason’s devastated sister launched a fundraising campaign to share a heartbreaking message.
“Chloe was chased by two men and fatally shot on December 22, 2024 in Brisbane,” Hannah McKone posted on GoFundMe.
“Chloe was only 23 years old.”
‘Because Christmas is so close, her family has no savings or financial resources to give her a funeral.
‘We kindly ask for help and support. All money donated will go directly towards Chloe’s funeral service.’
Another sister, Danni Mason, remembered Chloe as a “daughter, a sister, an aunt and a friend… who was loved by many.”
“This loss has devastated our family and we are struggling to come to terms with this so close to the holidays,” she wrote.
“As sisters, we grieve for the things she won’t experience, all the things we won’t be able to share, and the memories we won’t make. She was an incredible woman.”
Neighbors told the ABC they heard several gunshots shortly before the woman’s body was found.
“I heard about three or four gunshots and then a little bit of wailing, and then I heard a man screaming, damn it,” one person recalled.
“(It was) very scary.”
