Dramatic new details revealed as cops close in on the suspected killers of Queensland woman Chloe Jade Mason, shot dead in Caboolture street
Arrest warrants have been issued for two brothers believed to be hiding out in NSW after being questioned and released over the fatal shooting of a woman on a city street last month.
Chloe Jade Mason, 23, known as CeeJay, was chased and shot by two men outside a house in Caboolture in Brisbane’s north just after midnight on December 22.
Queensland detectives had previously released images of the two men who they say could help solve the alleged targeted attack on Railway Parade.
Now police have revealed that arrest warrants have been issued for brothers Codye Thomson, 29, and Kaine Thomson-Gleeson, 32, over the alleged murder.
The two men were interviewed as witnesses and released by police without charge on the day of the shooting.
“At that early stage of the investigation, there was simply insufficient evidence available to indicate their involvement in this murder,” Detective David Harbison said at a news conference Friday.
It is believed the pair fled the state in the following days and are now in northern NSW.
“It is clear these men traveled some distance from Caboolture to across the border and would have come into contact with the public during their journey,” Det Insp Harbison said.

‘They know they are wanted for the [alleged] murder of Chloe, so we fear they will do their utmost to avoid arrest.”
The men were last seen in Chinderah, northern NSW, on December 30 and had been visiting relatives in Kempsey, NSW.
Police say they may be traveling in a white Holden Commodore car with Queensland registration 953 HO4.
The investigators are calling on the two men to come forward.
First responders found Ms. Mason unconscious at the scene and she could not be resuscitated.
Detectives believe Ms. Mason was shot while “being attacked by two male subjects.”
Queensland Police also released CCTV footage from the scene at the time of the shooting, including audio in a public appeal for more information.

Detective Inspector David Harbison said she was shot by two men, and investigators were treating her death as a homicide.
“Initial investigations indicate that the deceased was assaulted by two male individuals who may have chased her through Railway Parade,” Det Insp Harbison previously said.
“Police are investigating reports of up to three to four shots fired in that street.”
The woman probably suffered a gunshot wound during the assault.
Det Insp Harbison said police did not believe the incident was a random attack where the parties involved knew each other.
Anyone who traveled along Railway Parade between 11.40pm on December 21 and 12.15am on December 22 is urged to contact police.
Daily Mail Australia previously revealed Ms Mason was involved in a stabbing that almost claimed her life, years before she was shot.
‘I’m in the [hospital] department now,” she shared on social media in 2016.
‘There are still nurses around me 24/7 checking on me [and] making sure everything is correct and nothing is out of place.
‘I have two drains in my heart to drain all the blood that leaks from the valve that was cut when the knife went 3 cm deep into my heart.
“I’m fighting through this with the love and support of my family and friends.”
The shocking revelation comes after it was revealed that her former boyfriend Kane Alexanderson, 18, was himself stabbed to death during a knife fight in 2020.

Mrs Mason’s devastated sisters shared their tributes on social media and launched a fundraising campaign to pay for her funeral hours after her death on December 22.
Hours after her death, Mrs Mason’s devastated sister launched a fundraising campaign to share a heartbreaking message.
“Chloe was chased by two men and fatally shot on December 22, 2024 in Brisbane,” Hannah McKone posted on GoFundMe.
“Chloe was only 23 years old.”
‘Because Christmas is so close, her family has no savings or financial resources to give her a funeral.
‘We kindly ask for help and support. All money donated will go directly towards Chloe’s funeral service.’
Another sister, Danni Mason, remembered Chloe as a “daughter, a sister, an aunt and a friend… who was loved by many.”
“This loss has devastated our family and we are struggling to come to terms with this so close to the holidays,” she wrote.
“As sisters, we grieve for the things she won’t experience, all the things we won’t be able to share, and the memories we won’t make. She was an incredible woman.”
Neighbors told the ABC they heard several gunshots shortly before the woman’s body was found.
“I heard about three or four gunshots and then a little bit of wailing, and then I heard a man screaming, damn it,” one person recalled.
“(It was) very scary.”
