Wild moment Chipotle customer attacks employee behind the counter and then threatens to stab him

An angry customer launched a violent attack on a Chipotle employee and threatened to stab him after he claimed the restaurant had messed up her order.

A now-viral video shows the irate customer walking behind the counter of a Chipotle in northeast Washington DC on Saturday and starting to make her own burrito bowl. She pushes workers aside as she piles food into the bowl and shakes off screaming staff as they try to intervene.

Employee Roberto Hernandez tried to grab the bowl from her arms, but the woman pulled him away and punched him in the face, sending the food flying over the counter.

The woman was reportedly angry because the Uber Eats order was not prepared properly, claiming that the order was missing spices and a double portion of chicken. WUSA reported.

Hernandez said she wanted a refund even though her receipt did not show an extra portion of meat, and was angry when he and his manager told her she had to contact the delivery service directly if she wanted a refund.

The woman, who was trying to make at least two new burrito bowls, ended up walking out of the store with one of the meals she prepared herself, restaurant staff told the outlet.

She then went online and threatened another attack on the establishment, reportedly saying: “I’ll come back and stab them and take their lives.”

Chipotle filed a police report for simple assault after Saturday’s incident, while the woman reportedly plans to sue the fast-food chain.

Hernandez, who told WUSA that the viral video is “triggering” to watch, was working at the Chipotle on Washington Place in D.C.’s Brentwood neighborhood on Saturday when the incident unfolded.

He claims the woman walked into the restaurant, said she had placed an order with Uber Eats, claimed it had been placed incorrectly and demanded a refund.

Hernandez and his manager explained that the refunds would have to be made directly by Uber, which he said upset her even more.

The customer, who also spoke to the TV station, claims she asked the restaurant to reinsert her order, but they refused.

She also claims she decided to go to the counter after staff took her original order, which she had taken to the restaurant, and refused to give it back.

“I understand you’re not allowed to go behind the counter, but once my food was taken, it was like you were taking my belongings. You have the right to chase them, not attack them, but take your belongings,” she explained.

The woman doubled down on her position again, adding that she believed the restaurant manager should have placed her order again due to the “inconvenience” caused to her.

She said she “feels bad” that the staffer “was attacked,” but also said “it was men who came to attack me.” While I was making my dinner, I was attacked by one crew member.”

Chipotle has since filed a formal police report on Hernandez’s behalf for simple assault. It is unclear whether the customer will be fined.

The woman — who was denied a refund for Uber Eats — says she plans to sue Chipotle.

The fast-food chain said in a statement to WUSA that “the health and safety of our associates is our utmost priority.”

“We are grateful for their hard work every day and will not tolerate guests who mistreat our team members,” the statement continued. “We are working with local law enforcement and hope that justice will be served for the individual who failed to treat our employees with the respect they deserve.”

DailyMail.com has contacted the restaurant chain for comment.
