Macaque attack! Chinese martial artist gets into a fight with some MONKEYS after trying to pet a wild animal
- Mr. Xie took on the macaque while visiting Mount Emei in Sichuan province
- In the video, the monkey attacks him and responds with a jab
This is when a kung fu expert takes on a monkey with its teeth bared for what looks like some serious gorilla warfare.
The man, identified as free fighter Mr Xie, took on a feisty Tibetan macaque while visiting Mount Emei, in southwest China’s Sichuan province.
Images of their scrap infuriated some social media users, who said he should have stayed further away from the wild animal.
Others who have visited the mountain thought it was a fitting reward for monkeys notorious for ambushing tourists for their food.
The scrap started when Mr. Xie tried to pet one of the macaques.

In the video, while touching the monkey, he attacks it and Mr. Xei responds with a punch, leaning over the railing to deliver more blows.
As he turns his back, another macaque rushes in to defend his friend and Mr. Xei drives him off with a flurry of air blasts.
Tourists watch in apparent disbelief as they film the strange martial arts fight and later shared the footage on social media.

A few days later, Mr. Xie also posted images of the scrap on Douyin – the Chinese counterpart of TikTok – in response to online attention.
He said he practices free fighting, so when the monkey surreptitiously threw a punch, he swung back like a reflex.
He said, “Of course I held back. After all, they are protected animals. I have to let them go, I just wanted to scare them off.
“Sure, this kind of behavior is absolutely wrong, so please don’t imitate it.”

Officials appealed to the public to keep their distance from the monkeys.
Douyin user Baba wrote, “After all these years, someone finally stood up to the monkeys.”
Another user posted, “He’s done things countless people want to do but are afraid to do.”
