China is working on advanced ‘brain warfare’ tech including devices that send enemies to sleep and thought-controlled weapons

China is working on advanced mind warfare technology that is said to include devices that can put enemies to sleep and control their thoughts, according to an uncovered report.

Researchers have found two recent studies from China's People's Liberation Army that show the military is expanding its “hard power” weapons with new technology to win wars without conventional weapons.

The biological weapons are designed to induce sleep, reduce cognition and alertness, and influence decision-making. The Washington Times reports.

It is also said that China is developing weapons that can be controlled directly by a soldier's thoughts and manipulate enemies.

Other weapons the Chinese military is said to be working on include “genetic drugs” that are reportedly capable of altering people's genetic and physiological traits and harming cognitive, emotional and behavioral traits.

The report 'Warfare in the Cognitive Age: NeuroStrike and the PLA's Advanced Psychological Weapons and Tactics' was published earlier this month by research group The CCP Biothreats Initiative.

“The PLA is leading the way in integrating advanced technologies such as artificial intelligence, brain-computer interfaces and new biological weapons into its military strategies,” researchers concluded.

Cognitive warfare devices include anti-sleep goggles that can increase alertness, while other weapons include “soft-kill radio waves” that use electromagnetic energy to induce drowsiness in enemies, the report found.

'In summary, the PLA's integration of advanced technologies, such as AI, can [brain-computer interfaces]and biological weapons in the military arsenal add significant psychological dimensions to warfare that extend beyond their physical effects,” the report said.

A 2022 Chinese military report identified “five battles of cognition” to shape future conflicts.

“The aim is to create a powerful deterrent and asymmetric advantage,” the report said.

Analysts discovered that the research is being conducted by two Chinese military organizations, Unit 94969 and Unit 96812, which develop defensive and offensive cognitive warfare.

It comes days after a declassified intelligence assessment found that China, Russia, Iran and Cuba were all trying to interfere in the 2022 US congressional elections.

According to the report, there is strong evidence that China “approved efforts to try to influence a handful of midterm races” involving candidates from both sides of the aisle.

It was likely part of a series of directives from Chinese Communist Party leaders to “intensify efforts to influence US policy and public opinion in China's favor,” which has been underway since 2020, the report said. judgement.

China redoubled its efforts to divide rival parties in the United States, but focused most on a few specific candidates, the assessment said.
