Chilling photos show husband of Florida woman who vanished in Spain buying duct tape and spraying paint over surveillance camera in Madrid on day she was last seen alive

Newly released court documents reveal images of the estranged husband of a missing South Florida woman in Spain on the last day she was seen alive.

Footage shows David Knezevic buying duct tape and spray paint at a hardware store in Madrid in February.

Hours later, he was caught spray-painting the surveillance camera in Ana María Knezevich Henao’s apartment building.

Ana, a 40-year-old Florida resident originally from Colombia, was declared missing in February after failing to meet a friend to travel from Madrid to Barcelona for a conference.

She was last seen walking into her Madrid apartment on February 2. According to court documents, her husband showed up that same evening and left with a suitcase.

David was taken into custody in May when he returned from his home country of Serbia, where he had been living for months. He has been charged with kidnapping.

The state of Florida asked the judge last week to deny David’s bail.

“He is a law-abiding citizen and we hope and pray that Ana walks through the door and shows up somewhere so he can be free,” said his attorney Jayne Weintraub.

The FBI and Spanish National Police officials carried out his arrest in May, as reported by EFE.

The Belgrade Internal Attaché’s office and Colombian police were also reportedly involved in the arrest.

According to her friends and family, the couple was going through a difficult divorce when she went missing.

Ana reportedly moved to Madrid at the end of 2023, partly to get away from her husband.

Investigators found surveillance footage of a man wearing a motorcycle helmet hanging out at Ana’s Madrid apartment on February 2, the day before friends lost contact with her.

He was spotted waiting for people to leave the building before sneaking in around 9:30 p.m.

Ana, a 40-year-old Florida resident originally from Colombia, was declared missing on February 5 after failing to meet a friend to travel from Madrid to Barcelona for a conference.

The same man is said to have spray-painted the lens of two security cameras at the apartment building in Madrid’s chic Salamanca district.

Ana’s friend, Sanna Rameau, told DailyMail.com that she last exchanged messages with her on February 2.

The last message from Ana’s WhatsApp account, sent the next day, said she had “met someone wonderful.”

‘He has a summer house about 2 hours from Madrid. We are going there now and I will spend a few days there. Signal is spotty. I’ll call you when I get back,” it said.

Another message described the circumstances of their first meeting, claiming they met on the street. ‘Great connection. Like I’ve never experienced before,” it said.

Her family became concerned after they received text messages in Spanish on Ana’s phone that did not sound like they were written by the Colombian.

“That message in Spanish, it’s like it was translated by Google. She is not. She doesn’t say those things. Like no one in Spanish would say it like that,” her brother said.

Ana and her husband had yet to formally file for divorce at the time of her disappearance.

A March 12 report from Spanish publication El Cierre Digital cited “sources close to the case” as claiming that the Scientific Police had found biological remains in the missing woman’s living quarters.

But her brother, Felipe Henao, recently appeared on NewsNation’s ‘Cuomo’ with a desperate appeal to the public and denied the report on the remains, saying the family is still desperate for answers.

‘We want to know the truth. We want to know where my sister is,” Henao said. “If anyone has any information or tips, please contact the FBI or Spanish authorities.”

The couple married in 2011 and moved to the city of Fort Lauderdale in South Florida

When asked about the alleged discovery of biological remains in her apartment, Henao said he asked the FBI if the report was true and “they told me it wasn’t.”

There are no further details about the details of the remains found.

Detectives “don’t want to share information because it could jeopardize the case.” I understand. Justice moves slowly,” Henao added.

He said her case was treated as a matter of domestic violence while being dealt with by the legal system, and that it was a case of enforced disappearance rather than a voluntary disappearance.

The couple ran a successful computer support and repair business from their home in Fort Lauderdale. Ana and Sanna had traveled extensively on holiday together and were in daily contact while Ana was on the hunt for a new apartment in the Spanish capital.
