Chilling new details in murder of nanny killed by influencer friend
New details have emerged following the arrest of a second suspect as part of the investigation into the murder of a 20-year-old nanny in Brazil last month.
The Amazonas civil police arrested Antônio de Oliveira, 25, last Wednesday in connection with the kidnap and murder of Geovana Martins.
Authorities arrested de Oliveira’s girlfriend, Camila da Silva, on August 28. She had hired Martins to babysit her daughter a year ago.
Martins was murdered on August 19 and found the next day in a wooded area in the northeastern Brazilian city of Manaus.
Marília Campello, head of the Amazonas civil police, said at a press conference on Thursday that Martins was at a friend’s home and ignored da Silva’s calls to return to her residence.
Police say 20-year-old Geovana Martins was forced into prostitution after being hired to work as a nanny by Camila da Silva, who allegedly attacked her at her friend’s home on August 19, the day she was killed. unveiled the Amazonas Civil Police last Thursday.
Amazonas civil police said Camila da Silva (pictured) was angry because her nanny, 20-year-old Geovana Martins, did not answer her calls and then visited her friend’s house, where she attacked and kidnapped her. She then reportedly texted Martins’ boyfriend asking for information on her whereabouts

An enraged da Silva allegedly went to Martins’ location, where she beat her and dragged her out of the house in a rage.
Campello said da Silva later texted Martin’s boyfriend requesting information about her whereabouts as part of an effort to cover up her involvement in the murder.
“She forcibly takes Geovana from her friend’s house and on the 19th, at night, Geovana is probably already dead. She sends a message to this friend asking about Geovana,” the Amazonas civil police official said.
“It was a disappointment from start to finish because I thought the police wouldn’t come because of the alibi they were trying to create,” Campello added.

Authorities are still searching for two more suspects, including Eduardo da Silva, in connection with the kidnapping and murder of Geovana Martins in Manaus, Brazil on August 19.
De Oliveira, who was arrested in 2023 in connection with the theft of luxury vehicles, is alleged to have helped da Silva kidnap and bury Martins’ body.
Authorities are still looking for two more suspects, including Eduardo da Silva. It is unknown whether he is related to Camila da Silva.
Police alleged early in the investigation that Camila da Silva used her home as a prostitution den and often stopped Martins from leaving.
“She was seduced into a life of partying and drinking,” Campello said in August. “But then Camila started forcing her to stay there. She wouldn’t let her go even though she wanted to, and she was sexually exploited.”
Other women were allegedly forced to perform sex work in the house, but Martins was the only one forced to live there.

‘This victim was practically forced to perform sexual acts. From what we discovered, the house was operating as a massage parlor,” Campello said. ‘Apart from Geovana, other girls also came there, but the victim lived there and could not have relationships with people from outside.’
Videos on da Silva’s TikTok account showed her and Martins dancing together.
Martins’ mother, Maria Costa, told Brazilian news channel G1 that she did not know her daughter had been forced to work as a prostitute.
‘So far we don’t know anything. She never told me anything,” Costa said. “It’s painful to know she was working with someone and then find out my daughter is dead.”
