A chilling image has emerged showing Lucy Letby at the christening of a newborn who died on the ward where the nurse went on her killing spree.

The photo – taken at Countess of Chester Hospital in 2013 – shows Emily Morris lifting her son Alvin out of a cot as Letby leans in to help.

The mother, from Deeside, Flintshire, said Letby told her that Alvin’s condition worsened the night before he died and it almost seemed like “she was hinting that she had done something.”

Ms Morris, 35, is now calling for her son’s death to be re-investigated after police concluded in 2018 that there were no suspicious circumstances.

Both Ms. Morris and Alvin’s stepfather Mark Lewis saw the photo for the first time yesterday after it was found on a disk in a memory box that they couldn’t download.

After seeing the image, which shows Letby touching Alvin’s blanket as his mother laid him down, the couple have spoken of their horror.

Mr Lewis, 39, said: ‘I feel sick to see she was there.’

Emily Morris, 35, also called Letby “sick” after seeing the photo, adding that it’s “freaky” that she also wrote in Alvin’s baptism book.

She said, β€œLucy Letby told us Alvin had a regression the night before he died.

β€œIn the morning he was dead, which is weird. It’s like she was hinting that she did something.

‘Alvin was a jolly little fellow, always smiling. I think she’s sick.’

Mrs. Morris first noticed Letby’s behavior around Alvin, who had been diagnosed with muscular dystrophy, during his baptism at the hospital.

She said Letby tried to touch and lean over him all the time during the baptism.

Alvin’s baptism record also revealed a “freaky” message left by the serial killer that read “To Alvin, with love on your special day.”

Speaking to the Daily Mail about the diary entries, she said: ‘It’s weird. It makes you sick looking at it.’

Mrs. Morris continued, ‘I think she’s ill. How can a human do that to a baby?

‘I had triplets there before (Countess of Chester Hospital) so I knew how the rooms worked.

β€œHe was in room 3, which is where you go when you go home soon. So why was he there?

β€œAnd why was she with him the night before? The next day we woke up and went in and he was already dead. She had it the night before.

β€œWe say it’s suspicious. It’s weird. She must have done something.’

Commenting on her failure to appear at the sentencing hearing, Ms Morris said: ‘She should have appeared in court’.

Police say an investigation is underway.

She told the BBC: ‘It shocked us. It’s really hard to see someone who’s done that with the babies next to you. It makes you sick.

You can see her grabbing his blanket. I’ve told everyone she did and now there’s proof. That’s proof she was with him.’

The UK Department of Health and Social Care has commissioned an independent inquiry into the circumstances surrounding the deaths and how Letby was able to carry out her killing spree.
