Chilling doorbell camera footage shows woman being chased by truck down dark Denver street before vanishing out of sight

Chilling doorbell camera footage shows the moment a woman was chased by a truck down a dark Denver street.

The clip, now being used as part of a police investigation, shows the woman fleeing on foot while being chased by the man in the pickup on the city’s south side.

The chase took place in front of several homes in a neighborhood at Interstate 225 and Yosemite Street, police said.

It happened last Friday and in one of the houses the unnamed woman was captured frantically wading through the snow with the car following close behind. As he catches up to her, she changes direction, and both she and the car disappear into the night.

Denver police have since identified the situation as a case of domestic violence, a case they say they are still investigating as both the woman and her partner remain unnamed.

Later in the day, a domestic violence expert gave his opinion on what he said happened.

“Healthy relationships don’t escalate into an attempt to run your partner down with a car,” Franklin Erickson of the support group for domestic violence survivors, The Initiative, said of the clip, which lasts just a few seconds.

“Very clearly a situation where this person needs help,” he continued, speaking to a local representative Fox 31. “Clearly a situation where her safety is at risk.”

Police subsequently issued their own statement about the woman’s ordeal, revealing on Friday that the woman had been forced into the truck by the invisible motorist, but managed to escape.

She was then chased by the man driving the truck, police said, but eventually escaped.

The man, meanwhile, was arrested the next day, officers confirmed – without charges being laid.

His identity, as well as that of the alleged victim, remains unknown — although Erickson provided some insight Friday into what may have predated the interaction.

“These kinds of things start with verbal abuse,” he said, before pointing to control — the urgent need to know — as another potential trigger.

“Always the exact location of their partner, via their phone,” Erickson said.

He added that abuse can sometimes be followed – or preceded – by caring or remorseful actions by the abuser, which should be taken with a grain of salt, he warned.

“(Such treatment will only continue) until the next incident,” he advised, “where that behavior may then escalate.”

As of Sunday morning, the woman’s current condition and identity have yet to be revealed.

The same goes for the alleged instigator, who at one point makes a U-turn to chase the victim.

The Denver Police Department is handling the case and their investigation is still ongoing as of this writing. DailyMail.com has reached out for comment.
