A young child has died after losing consciousness while the plane was in the air on a flight to New York.
The 11-year-old was on a Turkish Airlines flight from Istanbul to the United States when they became unresponsive as it flew over Europe today.
The plane made an emergency landing at an airport in Hungary, but despite medics rushing to the plane, the child could not be saved, according to MTI news agency.
The airport’s medical service was sent to flight TK003 after it landed on the tarmac of Budapest Ferenc Liszt International Airport, it reported.
It is believed that the child involved was an 11-year-old American boy who was traveling with his family.

Local media claim that cabin crew provided first aid to the child, who had a disability, as did a doctor who was also traveling on the flight.
Pilots contacted officials at Budapest airport and were cleared to make an emergency landing, landing at 10:30 am. Sun reports.
On the ground, it was met by doctors and an ambulance who took the boy and his family to hospital, although tragically he could not be saved.
The flight, which originally departed from Istanbul Airport at 08:56 local time (06:56 BST), departed at 02:00 PM (01:00 BST).
Flight tracking data shows it landed at New York’s JFK Airport at 3:45pm EST (8:45pm BST).
