Chiefs star Rashee Rice is carted off on stretcher after collision with Patrick Mahomes in shocking scenes

Kansas City Chiefs wide receiver Rashee Rice appeared to have suffered a serious injury after colliding with his own quarterback Sunday.

Rice was carted off the field during the first quarter of the Chiefs’ game against the Los Angeles Chargers on Sunday.

He appeared to have suffered a knee injury after being hit by Patrick Mahomes as the quarterback attempted to make a tackle after an interception.

On just the Chiefs’ second possession of the divisional game at SoFi Stadium, Mahomes threw a pick that was intercepted by the Chargers’ Kristian Fulton.

When Fulton returned the interception, Rice stripped the ball but was accidentally hit by his own signal caller as Mahomes attempted to make a tackle on the play.

The wide out had to be helped off the field before being taken to the locker room.

Rice appeared inconsolable as he left the game, covering his face with a towel over his head.

He was later ruled out of the game by the Chiefs due to a knee injury. The extent of the injury is currently unknown.

Chiefs defensive lineman Charles Omenihu, who is working on his return from his own injury, shared fans’ devastation on social media.

“God knows double R CANNOT BE HURT,” Omenihu wrote on X, later adding, “I am sick, I cannot lie.”

Just last month, Rice thanked Mahomes for his support during an offseason full of legal troubles.

During training camp, Rice answered questions for the first time and praised Mahomes, saying, “He’s been very important.

“He is there for me when I need him, both on and off the field. He’s just a phone call away and he’ll always answer my call, so I got him.”
