Chiefs running back Ronald Jones is clearly unhappy with his current situation in Kansas City, and took to Twitter Friday night to express his feelings.

Signed to the Chiefs on a $1.5 million one-year off-season contract, Jones could reasonably have expected to contribute after three relatively prolific seasons in Tampa Bay (and a rookie season in which he barely played).

But Jones, a 2018 second-round pick, has yet to play a single snap for Andy Reid’s attack as he has become the oddball in a crowded backfield.

The 25-year-old is keeping an eye on the exits based on his most recent tweets as he has been a healthy inactivity before every match this season.

“That grass looks hella green on the other side,” he said Friday night.

“Of course I would like a RELEASE now.”

Jones made a total of 18 hasty touchdowns in Tampa Bay and was a major contributor to the team to win the Super Bowl in the 2020 season.

He had the best 978 rushing yards of his career that year at more than five yards per attempt before handing over more work to Leonard Fournette last season.

But Jones has failed to stand out from the Chiefs in a backfield with Clyde Edwards-Helaire, Isiah Pacheco and Jerrick McKinnon.

The Chiefs have largely opted for a commission approach for those three running backs, with Edwards-Helaire the nominal starter for most of the season so far.

Nevertheless, the team averaged 4.5 yards per attempt on the ground before the bye in Week 8, leading the AFC West with a 5-2 record.
