Following the Chiefs' 20-14 loss to the Las Vegas Raiders on Christmas, NFL analyst Danny Kanell said Kansas City quarterback Patrick Mahomes is having the worst season of his NFL career.
“We're watching Patrick Mahomes have the worst season of his career,” Kanell said.
“Career high interceptions with 14, six losses the most he's had in the regular season, and we're talking three home losses at Arrowhead.
“The AFC Championship game so far has been the Arrowhead invitational, for the first time if they achieve their goal they will have to go through an opponent on the road to get to the Super Bowl.”
“I think this team has a lack of identity, I think they miss Eric Bieniemy. I think this team has been lax and once again had a few three-and-outs to start the game, and then when they try to flip the switch, it's too late. I think this team has some serious problems that won't be fixed this season.”

The Chiefs' offense and Mahomes have been let down by inadequate wide receiver play this season
Kansas City's biggest problem this season has been the lack of production and consistency from a young wide receiver group that has performed below expectations all season.
The Chiefs' most productive player, listed as a wide receiver, is rookie Rashee Rice, a second-round draft pick, who has recorded 74 catches, 811 yards and seven touchdowns this season.
Skyy Moore, Kadarius Toney and Marquez Valdes-Scantling were all expected to take significant steps in their development and contribute more to the passing game this season, but all have failed to do so.
Kansas City has been led primarily by eight-time Pro Bowl tight end Travis Kelce, who has picked up 90 receptions, 968 yards and five touchdowns.
But Kelce's frustration appeared to boil over in the loss to Las Vegas after he slammed his helmet before an altercation with head coach Andy Reid.
NFL Network analyst and Hall-of-Famer Kurt Warner called the loss to the Raiders the “worst game overall” for the Chiefs offense during the Mahomes era.
As Kanell also noted, the Chiefs offense may suffer from the loss of former offensive coordinator Eric Bieniemy, who now holds the same position with the Washington Commanders.
