Harrison Butker is set to become the highest-paid kicker in NFL history, with the Chiefs signing the 29-year-old to a new $25 million contract.
Butker has signed a four-year, $25.6 million contract, including $17.8 million in guaranteed money.
Butker’s new contract comes three months after he made headlines for a controversial speech at Benedictine College’s graduation ceremony in Kansas.
The Chiefs fanatic called on men to “fight against cultural emasculation” and claimed women are destined to be “housewives”.
Butker’s speech was full of his conservative views, not only on gender roles, but also on abortion and vaccines.

“To the gentlemen here today, I want to say that part of the plague in society is the lie you’ve been told that men are not needed in the home or in our communities,” Butker said during his speech in May.
“As men, we set the tone of the culture, and when that’s missing, there’s disorder, dysfunction, and chaos,” Butker continued. “This absence of men in the home is what plays a huge role in the violence that we’re seeing across the country.”
The three-time Super Bowl champion has become increasingly outspoken about his personal beliefs in recent years.
His beliefs include wearing a tie to the Chiefs’ Super Bowl celebration at the White House last year that featured a pro-life Latin phrase. Butker’s views are at odds with President Joe Biden’s pro-choice policies.
Butker has been the Chiefs’ starting kicker since 2017 and scored the winning field goal in last year’s Super Bowl against the Eagles.
The previous record for highest-paid kickers was held by Baltimore’s Justin Tucker and Philadelphia’s Jake Elliott, who both make $6 million per season.
