California Children’s Hospital chief psychologist claims children can identify as ‘gender minotaurs’ as she celebrates ‘revolution’ by young people who ‘know more than we do’
- Dr. Diane Ehrensaft also claims she spoke to ‘gender prius’ kids who identified as a ‘hybrid’
- In Greek mythology, the Minotaur was a creature with the body of a man and the head of a bull
- “Most kids who are sex minotaurs like mermaids,” she said
A chief psychologist at a children’s hospital in California has claimed that children can identify as “gender minotaurs.”
Dr. Diane Ehrensaft is the director of mental health care and chief psychologist at the Gender Development Center at UCSF Benioff Children’s Hospital.
Her research focuses on the effects of puberty blockers and hormones on children.
First reported by Fox newsEhrensaft has claimed that children can identify as gender hybrids, including “gender minotaur.”
In Greek mythology, the Minotaur was a creature that had the body of a human but the head of a bull.

The psychologist’s other claims include what she describes as a “gender prius”
In a list of terms published by Ehrensaft, in a paper entitled The Gender Affirmative Model, she refers to different ways children have described themselves.
One was “genus minotaur,” which is described as a descriptor for a child who sees themselves as having one sex on top and another sex on their bottom half.
The psychologist’s other claims include what she describes as a “gender prius.”
This label is said to have been explained to her by a child who looked like a boy from the front, but had a long braid in her hair tied with a pink bow.
According to the paper, the child said, “See, I’m a Prius, a boy in the front, a girl in the back. A hybrid.’
Other terms include a “gender smoothie” described as a variation on being gender fluid.
One teen described it to Ehrensaft as, “You take everything about gender, throw it in the blender, hit the button, and you’ve got me: a gender smoothie.”

Another term shared by Ehrensaft is “gender tesla,” which she describes as a transgender state that some children reach after they become gender hybrids.
Ehrensaft had previously told a talk at the San Francisco Public Library in 2018, “I totally agree that we are in the middle of a gender revolution and the kids are in charge.
‘It’s beautiful to see. And it’s also humbling to know (children) know more than we do on this subject of gender expansion.”
Ehrensaft believes that transgenderism stems from a ‘gender web’ that is influenced by culture, upbringing and nature.
During the 2018 conversation, Ehrensaft discussed a conversation she had with a 7-year-old that there could be “gender minotaurs.”
She also said, “I started meeting a lot of other gender hybrids. And so we have the sex prius, we have a sex minotaur.
“And most kids who are sex minotaurs like mermaids. So make sure you have a lot of mermaid books. If you really think about it, it works.’
