“I have never experienced such pain. I break every day’: Chicago mom cries over daughter, 18, killed with boyfriend, 18, by ‘drunken’ probationer on her way to work

  • Stephanie Maze has spoken of her devastation after her daughter and her boyfriend were killed in a car accident in June
  • Amelia Mazeikis, 18, was driving to work with her boyfriend of three years D’Shaun Tudela, 18, when their car was knocked over by Deni Rubio
  • According to police, Rubio’s blood alcohol level was nearly twice the legal limit at the time of the collision and he was charged earlier this week.

A Chicago mom has shared her agonizing pain after losing her teenage daughter to a probationary felon who crashed into the youngster’s car — reportedly while intoxicated.

Stephanie Maze spoke with heartbreaking emotion about the death of her daughter Amelia Mazeikis, who died on June 10 with her friend D’Shaun Tudela. They were only 18 years old.

Speak against CBSChicagoSaid Maze, “I have never experienced such pain.

“I wake up and I break every day, over and over again. Whatever we can do to keep fighting for this beautiful person, I want to do it.”

Maze spoke after suspected drunk driver Deni Rubio — on probation for a firearms violation at the time of the hit-and-run — pleaded not guilty to manslaughter.

Maze continued, “She was the type of person who would win a game and then feel sorry for the people who didn’t win and want to give them her trophy.

“When these teens died, every person they’d had in their lives kind of died with them.”

Mazeikis was driving Tudela to work shortly before 9 a.m. that morning, when prosecutors alleged that Deni Rubio, 32, was driving recklessly.

Rubio allegedly ran a red light on the Higgins and Barrington roads in Hoffman Estates, Illinois, and passed the car of the high school graduates.

According to police, Rubio’s blood alcohol level was nearly twice the legal limit at the time of the collision.

After the crash, Rubio’s truck ended up in a ditch and prosecutors allege he tried to grab a police officer’s gun before he was finally overpowered.

Rubio was also on probation for a 2022 weapons charge at the time.

Maze continued, “He’s a murderer. He killed these two kids. Not one. Two.’

Horrifying surveillance footage released in June shows the moment the two vehicles collided.

The video shows a car racing through a red light and crashing into the couple’s vehicle. For a moment D’Shaun’s mother, Krystal Tudela, said she would never forget.

said Tudela WGNTV that she struggled not to quit after her son’s death.

“And my partner said it too, ‘Maybe it was just their time,'” she told the outlet. “It shouldn’t have been their time.”

Tudela said her son was involved in church and volunteer work, loved woodworking and cooking, and had an artistic flair.

“All in all a great big brother, a great son,” Tudela said.

Rubio’s bail was set at $2 million and he is currently facing five felony counts.

On Friday, he pleaded not guilty at his arraignment and was ordered to participate in a substance abuse program at the Cook County Jail. Rubio will appear in court on September 11.

Since then, a tribute has been paid to the young couple on Facebook, after Tudela’s mother shared a photo of the couple.

One person commented, “Oh my god Evelyn. I am so sorry for your loss, may you and your family find comfort in your heart to get through this tragedy.”

Another posted, “My sincere condolences to you and your family, I’m so sorry.”
