Chicago Bulls commentators Stacey King and Adam Amin fell for a tweet from a fake Adrian Wojnarowski account about Derrick Rose’s departure from the NBA.
While incorrectly using the ESPN NBA insider’s name and photo, the X user indicates in his bio that he is a “satire/parody” account. On Saturday, the fake account, which has 11.8 thousand followers, was tweeted that Rose – a former MVP – retired after 15 seasons.
King, a former Bulls forward, saw the tweet during NBC Sports Chicago’s broadcast of the Bulls-Wizards game and announced the false information on air.
“It’s on the Internet and Adrian Wojnarowski reported that Derrick Rose is retiring after 15 seasons,” King said.
‘What’s up with that? Wow, think of the Bulls impact we’ve already had tonight,” Amin replied. “Dennis Rodman comes in, and now Derrick Rose (retires) after 15 seasons in the NBA.”

Rose, who now plays for the Grizzlies, was the 2011 MVP and was in Chicago from 2008 to 2016
The Bulls drafted Rose out of the University of Memphis with the first overall pick in 2008.
In 2011, the explosive point guard became the youngest regular season MVP at the age of 22. Rose led Chicago to the Eastern Conference Finals in 2011 before losing to LeBron James and the Miami Heat in a gentleman’s sweep.
The following year, Rose tore his ACL during a playoff game against the Philadelphia 76ers and hasn’t been the same since.
Rose left Chicago in 2016, but left his mark as one of the franchise’s best players despite failing to win a championship. He spent brief stints as a role player for the New York Knicks, Cleveland Cavaliers, Minnesota Timberwolves and Detroit Pistons.
He joined the Memphis Grizzlies in 2023 and is averaging eight points, 1.9 rebounds and 3.3 assists per game. The Grizzlies are 13th in the Western Conference with a 23-45 record.
