Chicago Bears wide receiver DJ Moore made a grand introduction for himself in his first preseason appearance with his new team after hauling in a 62-yard touchdown in a 23-17 victory over the Tennessee Titans.

With about six-and-a-half minutes left in the first quarter, Moore caught a wide receiver screen before showing off tremendous speed and running for the end zone untouched.

Instant reelplays like this are the exact boost to the offense Chicago was hoping for when they acquired Moore along with a boatload of draft picks from the Carolina Panthers in exchange for the No. 1 overall pick in this year’s NFL Draft.

Moore spent the first five seasons of his career at Carolina, where he totaled 5,201 yards, 364 receptions and 21 touchdowns while wearing a Panthers uniform.

Last season, while playing with what can only be described as a rotating disaster at the quarterback position, Moore recorded 63 receptions, 888 yards and a career-high seven touchdowns.

Moore (L) is expected to help quarterback Juston Fields (M) take a big step in his growth

Moore provides an important update on previous leading passcatchers in Kmet and Mooney

Moore’s addition to the offense is also expected to help Fields take another huge step in his growth as he enters his third year, as he is a major upgrade over the team’s leading pass catchers of each of the past two years in tight end Cole Kmet. and W. R. Darnell Mooney.

Last year, in his sophomore season at the NFL Fields, he showed tremendous progress from his rookie season, not only in his hitting ability, but also in his ability and willingness to run the ball.

Fields finished last season with 2,242 yards, 17 touchdowns and 11 interceptions, while also recording 1,143 yards and eight touchdowns to lead the Bears in rushing as well.

Earlier this summer, ESPN’s Dan Orlovsky designated Fields as a candidate for this year’s MVP interview.

“Just to remind everyone at home that the Chicago Bears were No. 1 last year. They were terrible last year, the only reason they were actually in games was Justin Fields,” Orlovsky said.

Fast forward to this year their general manager Ryan Poles has done a few things. No. 1 this line of attack has gone from weakness to potential strength.

‘No. 2 DJ Moore, there’s finally some decent outside talent he’s getting a chance to play with.

“And then three the growth he’s going to have. Everyone keeps saying ‘follow the Jalen Hurts model’, for the style, no. Justin Fields’ season should be a lot like Josh Allen’s sophomore season did in the last half.”

“I remember everyone was talking about I think he went for 18 touchdowns and three picks in the last 11 games of his sophomore season.

“And you saw uh oh it’s starting to take off. This is what this season should look like from start to finish for Justin Fields.

“I’ll say it again, he’s finally going into the MVP interview this year because he has the right people around him to help his talents excel.”
