In the midst of the pitch invasion, Chesterfield goalkeeper Harry Tyrer was confronted and pushed to the ground as he protested the goal.

Oldham released a statement condemning the horrific incident.

“Oldham Athletic condemns any infringing on the playing field and the use of fireworks,” the statement said.

“As a club we are proud of the passion of our supporters, but the behavior of everyone representing our club must remain lawful at all times.

“We will cooperate fully with all investigations.”

Chesterfield took the lead through Ash Palmer just after the hour mark, but Norwood’s late equalizer ended their perfect start to the season after winning their first three games of the season.

The Spireites are third in the table and are back in action against Altrincham next weekend.
