Cheryl’s son Bear, 7, delights listeners as he makes his Radio 1 debut and sweetly wishes mum’s pal Perrie Edwards good luck with her new single: ‘He has a little Geordie accent!’

Cheryl’s fans were thrilled when her son Bear made his Radio 1 debut on Friday at the age of seven, with some even noticing he had a Geordie accent just like his famous mother.

On Greg James’ Breakfast Show, guest Perrie Edwards was tasked with calling her A-list friends during one game and guessing whether they were sitting down or standing up.

The former Little Mix star, 30, who was promoting her new single Forget About Us, chose to call friend and fellow singer Cheryl, 40, and revealed the two speak regularly.

But after playing the song it was Bear, who Cheryl shares with ex Liam Payne, 30, and remains out of the public eye, who answered.

‘Hello who is this?’ he asked, as a beaming Perrie asked: ‘Is this Bear?’

“Yes,” he replied, before confirming that he had indeed sat down as the Little Mix singer cheered triumphantly.

A very surprised Cheryl then came on the line and told host Greg: ‘Beer says, “It’s my first time on the radio now that everyone knows me”‘.

In March, Bear’s father March Liam posted a rare photo of his son on Instagram, sending his 26 million followers into a frenzy.

In the photo, Liam obscured his son’s face as he showed the little one a billboard in London’s Leicester Square, advertising his new single Teardrops.

Writing: “One day I want to be on a billboard, Dad.”

Fans immediately rushed to the comments and couldn’t believe how quickly Bear had grown.

Speak with British Vogue before the Girls Aloud reunion, Cheryl shared that Bear thinks it’s ‘pretty cool’ that both his parents are famous pop stars.

When asked if her son would appear on stage at some point during the tour, Cheryl said: ‘The problem is I want Bear to have a normal childhood.

‘I don’t want people to recognize him on the street. But he knows I’m famous. He recently said, “How lucky am I to have famous parents?” I said, “It doesn’t matter.” He says, “Yeah, but it’s pretty cool.” ‘
