Cheryl to ‘make revealing documentary’ about rollercoaster life that could lead to TV ‘bidding war’

Cheryl is in talks to make a revealing documentary about her life to mark her 40th birthday, it has been reported.

The former pop singer would follow in the footsteps of Ed Sheeran and Beyonce and is now in talks with a production company.

Cheryl, who was married twice, first found fame in Girls Aloud before becoming a household name as a judge on the X Factor, she later welcomed son Bear with One Direction’s Liam Payne, 29, and acted on the West End stage.

A source told The sun: “There has been a long line of other stars who have done the same, enjoying the rare opportunity to give their side of the story in their own words.”

“But Cheryl will only proceed if she is completely comfortable with the approach they will take and her level of input.”

“It’s too early to say which broadcaster is likely to air the show, but with competition between terrestrial channels and streamers stronger than ever, it would likely trigger a bidding war.”

MailOnline has reached out to Cheryl’s representatives for comment.

She was married to footballer Ashley Cole from 2006 to 2010, followed by restaurateur Jean-Bernard Fernandez-Versini from 2014-2016.

It was said that Cheryl split from Liam Payne after two years after feeling like she was raising on her own The sun reported in 2018.

Sources told the publication that the Girls Aloud star “effectively raised Bear on her own for most of his freshman year,” during the Bedroom Floor hitmaker’s time on the road.

Insiders insisted the cause of the relationship’s breakup was due to his “constant travel to promote his pop career in the months after their child was born,” and received support from her mother Joan.

It comes after Cheryl revealed that she would like to star in a “gritty drama” following her huge stage success in 2:22 A Ghost Story.

The singer made her acting debut as Jenny in the West End thriller in January, taking over the lead role from Lily Allen and Laura Whitmore, among others.

She spoke about her decision to take up acting during an appearance on The One Show on Friday, teasing her desire to take on more film projects.

When asked by hosts Alex Jones and Jermaine Jenas if she plans to continue acting, Cheryl hinted that she might want to star in a “gritty drama.”

Speaking of signing up for 2:22 A Ghost Story, she said, “I just knew it felt right for me and I would be comfortable in that role.”

Looking at any future projects, she added, “It should be something that makes me feel the same way, maybe a drama, something gritty.”

Reflecting on making her stage acting debut, the Girls Aloud star described it as very similar to singing in front of a live audience.

She explained, “I think it’s all just entertainment, I love being in front of a live audience again rather than just being on screen.”

“You feel the participation of the audience… it’s like an exchange of energy, not much different from performing a song.”

Cheryl also admitted that joining the cast of 2:22 A Ghost Story “has exceeded all of her expectations,” gushing about how much she’s enjoyed it.

Cheryl appeared on the BBC chat show with her co-star Jake Wood and also admitted that they’ve gotten in trouble before for breaking up on stage.

Cheryl put the blame on her co-star, saying, “It’s him!” To be fair, it’s a ghost story, so people think it’s scary, but it’s actually really funny in parts.

“When I first started acting with Jake, I wasn’t ready for his comedic timing, so I was seeming… I just burst out laughing on stage in front of the audience… Not my best moment !’

Cheryl stars in the play as Jenny, who thinks her new house is haunted, but her husband Sam remains skeptical.
