Cher set to perform at the 2024 Victoria’s Secret Fashion Show – as show makes grand return following four-year hiatus
Cher has been announced as a performer at the upcoming Victoria’s Secret Fashion Show.
The lingerie brand announced in a video on their Instagram account that the 78-year-old music icon will perform live on the catwalk.
The music video featured clips from Cher’s music video for Believe, in which she was announced as the musical guest.
“It’s a woman’s world so it makes sense that you can’t have a fashion show without the mother of fashion herself: @Cher!” Victoria’s Secret captioned the post.
‘We are so excited to announce that she will officially be performing at the 2024 Victoria’s Secret Fashion Show. But she won’t be alone… stay tuned for more announcements to come as we complete our first-ever all-female lineup. #VSFashionShow.’

She follows Taylor Swift and The Weeknd, who both previously performed at Victoria’s Secret Fashion Shows.
After a four-year hiatus, the fashion show is making a triumphant comeback this fall.
The show will take place on October 15 in Brooklyn, New York. A-listers such as Gigi Hadid, Tyra Banks and Paloma Elsesser will walk the runway.
The fashion show was canceled in 2019 due to poor ratings and a lot of heated controversies, and the organization has since tried to become more inclusive.
But in May, it was announced that the show would return later this year.
Victoria’s Secret announced the big news via a post on Instagram, telling fans, “We’ve read your comments and we’ve heard you.”
“The Victoria’s Secret Fashion Show is BACK and will reflect who we are today, plus everything you know and love: the glamour, runway, wings, musical entertainment and more! Stay tuned… it only gets more iconic from here,” VS promised followers with the hashtag #VSFashionShow.
The brand returned in 2023 with a “revamped” Victoria’s Secret World Tour Prime show, which was not well received, with people finding the show boring compared to its heyday in the ’90s and early 2000s.
Victoria’s Secret has faced quite a bit of controversy in recent years.

In 2020, a shocking report appeared in The New York Times alleged that Victoria’s Secret owner Les Wexner ridiculed the retailer’s efforts to promote women with diverse body types.
The Times interviewed more than 30 executives, employees, contractors and models and reviewed court documents to find a toxic culture of sexual harassment.
Employees allege Wexner mocked the retailer’s attempts to embrace different body types, saying, “Nobody goes to a plastic surgeon and says, ‘Make me fat.'”
Wexner is also said to have reprimanded employees about their weight, for example, insulting an employee who took a second helping at a buffet because he was overweight.
However, it is now attempting to return to its roots as a fashion show – with a show that will be updated, but will definitely include a few nods to the Angels of the ’90s
After the negative reactions, the lingerie company decided to launch a new brand to appeal to Generation Z. They also appointed new brand ambassadors, including footballer Megan Rapinoe and transgender model Valentina Sampaio.
The classic mall brand also faced stiff competition from more inclusive lingerie brands, such as Kim Kardashian’s loungewear line Skims and Rihanna’s Savage x Fenty.
Rihanna’s Savage x Fenty fashion shows became unmissable events filled with models of all shapes and sizes.
Not only was the company in trouble, but some Victoria’s Secret stores were also affected.
In 2023, the chain was heavily criticised for its handling of a complaint from a trans woman who claimed she had had a “human experience” in one of its stores while trying on bras.
Now, however, the brand is trying to return to the roots of the fashion show. The show will be revamped, but will definitely include a nod to the Angels of the 90s.
