The nominations for the 2024 Rock and Roll Hall of Fame class are in and the 15 nominees represent different genres of music.
On Saturday, the Cleveland-based institution announced that Mariah Carey, Cher, Peter Frampton, Kool & the Gang, Lenny Kravitz, Sinéad O’Connor, Oasis, Ozzy Osbourne – who lashed out at Kanye West for unauthorized use of the Black Sabbath song Iron Man – Sade and Foreigner all made the cut for the first time.
In addition, Dave Matthews Band, Mary J. Blige, Eric B. & Rakim, Jane’s Addiction and A Tribe Called Quest have all been nominated again after being denied entry in their last nominations.
To qualify, the musical act must have released its first song in 1999 or earlier.
“This remarkable list of nominees reflects the diverse artists and music that the Rock and Roll Hall of Fame honors and celebrates,” John Sykes, chairman of the Rock and Roll Hall of Fame Foundation, said in a news release.

Dave Matthews Band has been nominated for the third time. Dave, Carter Beauford, Stefan Lessard, Tim Reynolds, Jeff Coffin, Rashawn Ross and Buddy Strong (as well as former violinist Boyd Tinsley) won the 2020 fan vote but were not chosen for inclusion.
More than 1,000 members of the Hall of Fame’s international voting body of artists, music industry professionals and historians will vote on the class of 2024 inductees.
The nominees will be announced in late April and the annual ceremony will take place in Cleveland in the fall.
