Chennedy Carter breaks her silence on Caitlin Clark bodycheck as Chicago Sky star reveals what provoked infamous foul

Chennedy Carter insists she has ‘no regrets’ over her brutal body check on Caitlin Clark, as the Chicago Sky player directly discussed the incident for the first time.

Carter also claimed that her push on Clark, which has attracted a lot of criticism and attention in recent days, came after she was hit in the head moments earlier.

The Chicago player declined to answer questions about the incident following Saturday’s loss to the Indiana Fever.

But after training on Monday she said: ‘I don’t regret anything. I’m going to compete and play 100 percent hard no matter who it is or who we’re playing against.”

Carter said she acted in the “heat of the moment” and would never back down when physically challenged on the field.

“I think I got hit in the head last game and it was just one of those things that happened in the heat of the moment. I don’t know Caitlin. “I don’t know her from anyone, but at the end of the day this is hoops, it’s competitive,” she said.

“This is basketball, when you play against someone like me, I classify myself as a dawg. So if you throw a punch, I’m going to compete with you.”

Carter also responded to the fallout from the incident, adding: “It’s become a big national story – there’s been things thrown through the hoops like racism and different things thrown at players that shouldn’t have even been brought up.

“This is the game I love, this is the game I’m passionate about and ultimately I’m grateful to be able to show it to everyone. And if you’re going to watch the match, watch the entire match before giving an opinion.

‘Just watch the whole game and get to know the players… I’ve seen a lot of fans just not understand who I am as a player. You also have to understand me as a person and not just watch one cassette tape and form an opinion about me.’
