Chelsea, City and Tottenham Hotspur have followed his progress over the past year as the Stamford Bridge club weighed up a bid.

Everton have had offers from Swansea City and Ipswich Town for striker Ellis Simms. Swansea discussed a possible trade involving Joel Piroe.

Stoke City are also interested in Simms, but Coventry could still sign a deal as they want to replace Viktor Gyokeres, who is about to join Sporting Lisbon.
