Chelsea star Mason Mount returns to England for a Make-A-Wish event

Chelsea star Mason Mount returns to England for a Make-A-Wish event… but will his own Man United dream come true amid a £65 million deadlock?

  • Manchester United are keen to sign Chelsea star Mason Mount this summer
  • United have already rejected three bids and are deadlocked with the Blues
  • Mount took a break from his vacation to attend a charity event with Make-A-Wish

Mason Mount took a break from his summer vacation to attend a charity event with him Make-A-Wish UK last week.

The Chelsea and England star – who has been at the center of much transfer speculation this summer – made time in his schedule to attend the event at Hoar Cross Hall in Staffordshire alongside presenter and Girls Aloud star Kimberley Walsh.

Mount and Walsh met some of the children – who live with life-limiting or life-threatening illnesses – and their families after the event was set up thanks to Disney’s partnership with the charity.

The 24-year-old was pictured spending time with the kids at the event, while he was also seen with various Disney superheroes and characters such as Mickey Mouse.

His presence comes amid a standoff between his club and Manchester United over his future.

With his Chelsea contract set to expire at the end of next season, there have been difficult negotiations between the academy graduate and the Blues hierarchy and he has so far failed to agree a new deal.

Mail Sport previously reported how there is a breach of contract between Mount and Chelsea as there is a significant rift between the parties in the negotiations.

The England international – who was the club’s Player of the Year in 2020-21 and 2021-22 – is said to be looking to triple his £80,000-a-week wages, which would put him in line with the other senior players and new signings. .

However, the club is unwilling to comply and despite Mauricio Pochettino’s desire to keep him, there are no signs that he will sign a new contract anytime soon.

Liverpool and Arsenal were seen as contenders for his signature this summer, while Chelsea are next looking to cash in on a midfielder who has made 195 appearances for the club.

However, they fell out of the race after citing rising costs for a possible transfer.

This left United in the top spot, but they have rejected three bids so far, with their latest £55m offer rejected by the Blues last week.

United believe their valuation of Mount is fair given his contractual situation and the midfielder’s keen interest in a move to Old Trafford.

However, Chelsea have indicated they will only accept a £58 million offer plus a further £7 million in add-ons.

This has left them deadlocked and Erik ten Hag’s side has now turned their focus to alternatives, including Brighton star Moises Caicedo.

His attendance at the event comes amid much speculation about his future after Manchester United rejected three bids for him as they were deadlocked with Chelsea.

However, a solution can still be achieved with Mount who likes to be on the move.

Meanwhile, speaking after attending the Make-A-Wish event, Mount emphasized his joy at being able to give something back.

He said: ‘The work Make-A-Wish does for children and their families is incredible, and this partnership with Disney was truly special.

“It was great to spend some time with the families, join in the fun and help create lifelong memories.

“It was a privilege to be involved.”
