Blues owner Todd Boehly has made several changes behind the scenes at the London club

Stewart, from England, has previously worked with the Red Bull network, RB Leipzig, Manchester City and the FA.

Boehly has also previously spoken of his desire to implement a multi-club structure at Chelsea, involving Stewart along with Cercle Brugge at Monaco.

The club’s restructuring is already well underway, with director Marina Granovskaia and technical advisor Petr Cech resigning when Boehly took over in May.

The Blues will appoint Christopher Vivell as their new technical director, who will take on the role after Red Bull Salzburg’s Christoph Freund turned down an approach.

Southampton’s Joe Shields will also join the club as a recruiting director.

Changes have also been made to the football department, with former manager Thomas Tuchel being sacked earlier this season and replaced by Graham Potter.

Chelsea spent more than £270 million on players this summer, including Wesley Fofana and Raheem Sterling, who were overseen by Boehly himself and co-owners Behdad Eghbali and Jose E. Feliciano.

Chelsea are currently fifth in the Premier League and are unbeaten under Potter. They will face RB Salzburg in the Champions League on Tuesday, before a league game in Brighton on Saturday.
