Chelsea owner Todd Boehly turned to Hollywood when he hit the red carpet at the 2023 Golden Globes.

The 49-year-old American, who also owns the Los Angeles Dodgers, is normally seen watching his teams from the stands, but on Tuesday he was seen walking the same carpet as some of Hollywood’s biggest stars.

It comes after Boehly stepped down from his role as Chelsea’s interim sporting director and oversaw its £270m worth of summer spending.

Boehly had a busy 2022 after completing a £4.25bn acquisition of Chelsea from Roman Abramovich in May.

Months later, he also became the owner of the Golden Globes, after the Hollywood Foreign Press Association voted to transfer ownership of the awards show to his company, Eldridge Industries.

The move was made to save the Golden Globes, with Eldridge creating a new private for-profit company to acquire the rights to all Golden Globes intellectual property.

It comes after Chelsea owner Boehly resigned from his position as the club’s sporting director.

However, Boehly has one less job to do after stepping down as Chelsea’s interim sporting director.

The Blues part-owner was given the job after the departures of Marina Granovskaia and Petr Cech last summer, and has led transfer negotiations at the west London club ever since.

Despite having emptied their pockets of £270m in new acquisitions, including Pierre-Emerick Aubameyang, Raheem Sterling, Marc Cucurella, Kalidou Koulibaly and Wesley Fofana last summer, Chelsea sit 10th in the league, 10 points behind. Manchester United in fourth place.

After hiring a new recruiting team to oversee negotiations, Boehly stepped down from his role and will continue as chairman of Stamford Bridge.

Boehly and his co-owner Behdad Eghbali will continue to share in Chelsea’s expenses, but Paul Winstanley, who has been appointed the club’s global talent and transfer director, and new technical director Christopher Vivell will now be tasked with leading the Blues’ recruitment strategy. . .
