Chelsea have been exploring a long-term target and Bayern Munich striker Mathys Tel.
The Stamford Bridge club made overtures to sign the France Under-21 forward last summer and have followed up their interest with further investigation this month.
Tel, 19, is regarded as one of the best young strikers in European football and would cost in excess of £40million.
Intriguingly, Bayern have been monitoring the situation of Chelsea striker Christopher Nkunku, although no swap deal has been discussed or offered by the Blues so far. It is understood that Nkunku would be open to joining Bayern if the opportunity arose.
Chelsea’s interest in Tel is concrete and the club would likely make an official bid for the France Under-21 star if Bayern were to encourage him.
The teenager has found his playing time limited this season and the opportunity to play more regularly in London could appeal to the youngster.

As well as adding a centre-back to their ranks this month, Chelsea are also keen to add to their forward line-up.
In addition to Tel, Ipswich striker Liam Delap is a player of genuine importance to Chelsea.
Crystal Palace defender Marc Guehi is the club’s top target at centre-back.
