Chelsea are understood to have made a £112m offer to Benfica for Enzo Fernandez.

The format is similar to the deal built by Atlético Madrid to buy Joao Félix from Benfica in 2019.

Benfica have reiterated that they want to keep Fernández, but the 21-year-old, who returned to Argentina at the weekend, is eager to take the plunge.

Further negotiations will take place later when the Portuguese team decide whether to accept Chelsea’s offer structure.

The deal would make World Cup winner Fernández the most expensive signing in Premier League history.
