Malang Sarr had a night to forget on Thursday when he scored an extraordinary own goal in Monaco’s Europa League game against Trabzonspor.
The Chelsea mercenary jogged to his own goal when his goalkeeper hammered a pass in his direction, leaving him helpless as the ball shot from his body into the open goal.
Sarr immediately put his hands on his knees and looked to the ground as the Trabzonspor fans celebrated one of the strangest goals they are likely to see.

The own goal came on the brink of half-time to give the Turkish side a 2-0 lead, but things only got worse for Monaco after half-time as they eventually slumped back to a 4-0 defeat.
The result will come as a shock to a club that won Ligue 1 in 2017 and is in danger of failing to qualify for the knockout stage.
Their league form was more impressive as Monaco are fifth after 10 games with only two defeats to date.

As for Sarr, he hopes his unfortunate blunder doesn’t come back to new Chelsea boss Graham Potter.
The 23-year-old centre-back joined Chelsea in 2020, but has only played eight league games for the club, spending most of his time with Porto and now Monaco.
He was unlikely to see the Blues after the arrival of Kalidou Koulibaly and Wesley Fofana, but Thursday’s performance will have done him no favors.
