Chelsea invited Julian Nagelsmann to ‘present ideas’ to club chiefs
Chelsea invite Julian Nagelsmann to ‘present his ideas’ to club chiefs as their search for a permanent manager continues… while Blues ‘offer the German coach and Luis Enrique to meet them’ before making a final decision
- Chelsea continues the search for a new permanent head coach
- Julian Nagelsmann and Luis Enrique are the frontrunners to land the job at Chelsea
- Both head coaches have been invited to meetings with club chiefs in recent weeks
Chelsea have intensified their search for a new permanent manager after reportedly inviting Julian Nagelsmann to present “his ideas” to club chiefs this week.
Germany coach Nagelsmann was recently sacked as head coach of Bayern Munich and was quickly replaced by former Chelsea boss Thomas Tuchel.
His availability in the market has caught the attention of a number of top clubs across Europe, including Todd Boehly’s Chelsea, who are looking for a new manager.
The Blues parted ways with Graham Potter early this month before appointing Frank Lampard as acting boss as their search for a permanent solution continues.
However, Boehly has clearly set the wheels in motion regarding the appointment of a new head coach after inviting two managers to speak to club chiefs.

Spanish manager Luis Enrique is another front-runner to take over the West London job
According to the German outlet BILDNagelsmann has been invited to personally introduce himself and present his ideas to the Chelsea bosses.
Just over a week ago, former Spain and Barcelona manager Luis Enrique was offered the same opportunity and is said to have made a good impression.
There were also suggestions that The Blues were preparing an ‘imminent deal’ with the Spaniard, but will wait to meet Nagelsmann first.
There is optimism that the German coach will be the right man to lead the Blues to success, despite his recent departure from Bundesliga giants Bayern.
The same outlet reports that Nagelsmann will not be alone should he decide to move to West London, given the arrival of Christopher Vivell last year.
In December, the Blues confirmed Vivell’s appointment as their new technical director.
Vivell previously worked at RB Leipzig in the club’s recruitment and scouting department, before stepping down from his position in October to take up a position as a consultant at Stamford Bridge in October.
And Nagelsmann has a close relationship with the 36-year-old, who previously worked together at Germany’s Hoffenheim before reuniting at RB Leipzig from 2019-21.

Chelsea owner Todd Boehly is looking for the third permanent manager of his tenure
As previously reported by MailSport, Nagelsmann and Enrique, who are both out of work, are two of the main contenders to succeed Graham Potter following his resignation after less than seven months in charge of the Blues.
Chelsea are supposedly willing to consider as many as seven candidates before narrowing down the list in a search led by co-sports directors Paul Winstanley and Laurence Stewart.
Chelsea had previously reached out through intermediaries to find out more about Nagelsmann’s plans following his resignation from Bayern Munich.
The 35-year-old is eager to learn more about the club, its structure and the level of influence he could wield. He is not thought to be in a hurry to return to management and is considering when he will make a comeback.
