Chelsea identify two Brentford stars as potential signings ahead of Mauricio Pochettino’s arrival

Chelsea-bound Mauricio Pochettino ‘keeps eye on TWO Brentford stars’ who helped sweep aside the Blues in their 2-0 defeat – while Todd Boehly’s main managerial target ‘plots a summer rebuild’

  • Big changes are expected at Stamford Bridge during the transfer window
  • Chelsea have had to sack some of their 33 senior players, but are still eyeing more
  • The West Londoners would love to take two starters from neighbor Brentford

Chelsea are preparing for another busy summer in the transfer market and have identified two starters from neighboring Brentford as targets to chase in the coming months.

Todd Boehly was on hand at Stamford Bridge as his club extended their winless run to eight games in all competitions in Wednesday night’s 2-0 defeat to the Bees.

The Clearlake Capital founder would have been in a prime position to watch some Brentford players as they convincingly sideline Chelsea.

The Blues have still not won a win in any competition since Frank Lampard’s return in early April and supporters are growing impatient for a permanent manager to be appointed in the summer.

That man is reportedly likely to be former Tottenham, Southampton and Paris Saint-Germain boss Mauricio Pochettino, who is keeping an eye on two Brentford players as he plans a new Chelsea rebuild.

According to reports, Chelsea could turn to Brentford’s David Raya and Ivan Toney as they plan their goals for the summer transfer window.

Chelsea need goalkeeper replacements and both Kepa Arizzabalaga and Edouard Mendy are expected to leave in the coming months.

Raya has been highly praised since being promoted to the Premiership and has kept 10 clean sheets in 33 Premier League starts this season.

As a result of his strong performances, Raya has other admirers and has been linked with Manchester United and Tottenham, as well as having suitors at the top of LaLiga.

Toney is also on Chelsea’s radar as the club look to tackle their glaring problem in the summer months.

The recent England debutant has registered 31 goals and 66 appearances in the Premier League since Brentford’s promotion at the end of 2020/21 and has established himself as one of the coolest penalty takers in the division.

Chelsea may need to clear some of their current options in the division before making a move to sign Toney, or another striker, as Pierre-Emerick Aubameyang and Romelu Lukaku are both still on the books and picking up hefty pay packages .
